Travel Requirements
A quick, practical checklist for your trip. Requirements change, so always confirm the current rules with official sources before you book flights.
Entry & visa
Most visitors need an entry authorisation before arrival. Check the current requirements and apply through the official Sri Lankan government portal, and make sure your passport has enough validity and blank pages.
Health
Consult a travel clinic or your doctor well ahead of your trip for current vaccination and health advice, and travel with any personal medication you need.
Money
The local currency is the Sri Lankan rupee (LKR). Because you settle your booking balance directly with your host, it's worth carrying some cash for the destination alongside cards.
Getting around
Distances can take longer than the map suggests. A private driver, the train and tuk-tuks are all easy ways to travel — and all bookable on SriLankaX.
Connectivity
A local SIM or eSIM is inexpensive and makes navigating, translating and staying in touch far easier.
Seasons
Sri Lanka's weather flips by coast: the south and west are best from around November to April, the east from about May to September. Pack for warm days, cooler highland evenings and the odd tropical shower.
